Anderson enters magistrate race

Anderson
   Vernon Anderson is the Republican candidate for Magistrate in District 3 of Calloway County running unopposed. Mr. Anderson worked as a journeyman brick mason prior to attending and graduating from Murray State University. Following his education he served sportsmen as a Kentucky Wildlife Biologist until his retirement. He worked as an area manager and retired as Regional Public Lands Biologist.
   Mr. Anderson returned to Calloway County in 1980 where he has remained a resident. He and his wife Brenda have two sons, Bryan and Brent, both graduates of Calloway county High School. Mr. Anderson has served on the site based council of Calloway County High School and recently served on the Land Between the Lakes Advisory Board. He also served as a past chairman o the Calloway County Republican Party. Presently Mr. Anderson is an investor in several businesses in Calloway County.


McBee seeks state House seat

McBee
   Corey McBee, senior from Murray, registered Jan. 25 to run for a seat in the Kentucky State House of Representatives, House District 5. He faces Melvin B. Henley (D), a 5-year seat holder and Murray business owner. If elected, McBee would be the youngest-ever Kentucky state representative, as he reaches the age minimum, 24, just 58 days before the Nov. 2 election.
   McBee plans to graduate in May with a double major in public relations and political science, a degree combination he said he constructed to work in politics.

Ratliff files for coroner

Ratliff
  Judy Ratliff, a chemistry professor at Murray State University, recently filed as a Republican candidate for Coroner of Calloway County. "I decided to run for Coroner because I have had an interest in this particular community service as long as I can remember. It uses my interest in science as well as my interest in education, "Judy said. "Beginning in high school and continuing through graduate school I helped out in nursing homes'" She continued. "Through this experience I learned the importance of allowing the deceased and families of the deceased to maintain their dignity and privacy in dealing with the death of a loved one."
  Judy has a Bachelor of Science degree from Berea College, a Masters Degree from Eastern Kentucky University and a Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky in Chemistry.

Conley to run for PVA

Conley
  A local real estate broker and retired Army Logistics Major filed papers with the Calloway County Clerk's Office recently to run in the upcoming May Primary election. Mike Conley, a resident of New Concord, passed an intense exam required by the state of Kentucky to qualify as a Property Valuation Administrator candidate for Calloway County. The Kentucky Primary Election is set for Tuesday May 18, 2010.
  Conley has many years of experience in Real Estate and is principal broker and auctioneer of his own company, Olive Branch Realty here in Calloway County. "I know how taxes and property work. There are things we can improve?things I will improve for the people of Calloway County," said Conley.
